Words fail me as I seek an exact description of VW. To sum it up, this is a book that may just have fitted all my illusions about the art of writing and reshaped my whole perspective. She is much more inspiring, much more piercing and much more appreciable figure than I'd ever imagined. ps: The translation is good enough to help one understands it.

    评《Lean In✭✭✭✩✩

3.5 stars would be more precise. An inspiring book that contains helpful anecdotes and references. I appreciated Sheryl's sense of humor, honesty about insecurities and engagement to support other women. However, similar views have been shared in other books, although Sheryl's certainly had found data to make conclusions more reliable.

    评《No More Mr. Nice Guy!✭✭✭✭✩

Generally a good read, with a lot of sound advice for those nice guys who deserve better. But the repetitiveness and the vague definition of nice guy(which may let any guy falls into the category) lower the value. BTW, what I expected is a general self-help book, and this one clearly deaths with men.

评《The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane✭✭✭✭✭

Well-written, beautiful and somber. I am fond of Kate Dicamillo's writing. If I have had children, I would tell this story and teach them about the meaning of "love". The very truth of love is, to open your heart, and over time, someone will come, and they would "come for you".

    评《Flowers for Algernon✭✭✭✭✭

Highly recommend reading this. The book is an emotional journey of human understanding and development, following Charlie from retarded to genius. And it's only getting stronger and stronger towards its end. Read it and you'll find it is worth reading, heart-breaking though.

    评《Lord of the Flies✭✭✭✭✩

The Pilgrim's Progress✭✭✭✭✩

I seek an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled, and that fadeth not away, and it is laid up in heaven, and safe there to be bestowed, at the time appointed, on them that diligently seek it."

  8. 2015-10-25

    评《The Defense of Poesy✭✭✭✭✩

Strange Stones✭✭✭✭✩

Peter Hessler is undoubtedly a terrific observer, mastering the balance between storytelling and reporting. Yet some stories, at least they seem to me, are a bit dated -- I'd more prefer his earlier writings.

  12. 2013-09-16

    评《A Rulebook for Arguments✭✭✭✭✩

A digestible book with most rules and pitfalls for argumentation concisely, though it's not so applicable a book —— in which there are only explanations but offering no practices.

  13. 2016-09-02

    Achitophel的persuation以及"Some let me name, and naming is to praise"那里写的好。

  14. 2015-09-24

评《The Norton Anthology of English Literature✭✭✭✭✭

  18. 2014-02-15

评《The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe✭✭✭✩✩

Surprised to find out those fantasy creatures in the book paralleled with Christianity. Looking forward to read #2 in this series.

  19. 2015-10-25
